Acting On Behalf Of Specified Entities
For new specific party matters, a former senior employee may make a communication or appearance on behalf of certain specified entities even during the one year cooling off period set forth at 18 U.S.C. 207(c). These entities are:
- An agency or instrumentality of a State or local government
- A hospital or medical research organization if it's a tax-exempt organization under 26 U.S.C. 501(c)(3) (also colloquially known as a "501(c)(3) organization")
- An accredited, degree-granting institution of higher education, as defined in 20 U.S.C. 1001
- Employee or elected or appointed official of a tribal organization or inter-tribal consortium, provided that they submit adequate notice to the Administrator
