Thinking About Leaving Federal Service?

This course will cover what you need to know before you leave Federal service as well after you've left. We'll also include a few contacts you can call or email if you have questions and links to some useful documents from the Office of Government Ethics that you can use.

We are intentionally not tracking who takes this course, so you can take it as many times as you want. The sections of the course have been hyperlinked so that you can go right to the section you want without having to wade through the entire course.

The post-employment rules can be different for various employees. Take the course below that relates to your type of appointment:

CAREER GS, AD EMPLOYEES: If you are a career General Schedule (GS) employee, take this course. Note: Administratively Determined (AD) employees take this course.

CAREER SES, SL/ST, ALJ or TITLE 42 EMPLOYEES: If you are in the Senior Executive Service (SES), Senior Level/Senior Scientific (SL/ST), Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) or are appointed under Title 42 hiring authority, take this course.

POLITICAL APPOINTEES: If you are a non-career employee, such as PAS (presidentially-appointed, Senate-confirmed), non-career Senior Executive Service (non-career SES), or Schedule C employee, take this course. Note: Administratively Determinied employees do NOT take this course!
