On May 5th, experts from EPA and the Centers for Disease Control will be discussing air quality and health as part of Air Quality Awareness Week 2016. The Twitterchat will begin at 1pm eastern #AirQualityChat and will feature:

Susan Stone Susan Lyon Stone, Senior Environmental Health Scientist, Health and Environmental Impacts Division, US EPA

Susan Stone is a Senior Environmental Health Scientist and led the team during the 2015 review of the national ambient air quality standards for ozone. Ms. Stone is also the Air Quality Index (AQI) team leader, has coauthored many of EPA’s public information documents about the AQI, the health effects of criteria pollutants, and she has given presentations across the U.S. and internationally, including teaching a course at the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development, on these subjects. She was co-lead for the National Scale Activity Survey, and an author of two epidemiological studies of the health impacts of smoke from a fire in Eastern North Carolina, and also is an author of a wood smoke controlled human exposure study. Susan Stone has an M.S. from the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Scott Jenkins Scott Jenkins is a senior scientist in EPA's Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS). He has been at EPA for 14 years. Scott’s most recent work at EPA has focused on the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. He is currently leading the review of the PM NAAQS. Scott’s recent activities also include work on the reviews of the O3, NO2, and SO2 NAAQS. Prior to EPA, Scott was a Howard Hughes Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Cell Biology at Duke University.
Dr. Wayne Cascio EPA scientist Dr. Wayne Cascio spent more than 25 years as a cardiologist helping people take care of their hearts. Now he is bringing a broader view of public health to EPA by leading research on the links between exposures to air pollution and maintaining a healthy heart. Meet EPA Scientist Wayne Cascio
