Introduction
The course introduction describes the purpose of the course and provides the context of the modeling application by describing field sites drawn from the instructor's experiences.
Site Examples
The course begins with a series of short examples from field sites. These were chosen to illustrate various aspects of contaminant transport. Since we are interested in modeling these situations, we ought to begin with observations from the field. These examples show us the phenomena which should be included in the model. One of the examples is drawn from the gasoline release at Uniondale, New York. Both the BTEX and MTBE distributions at the site are discussed.
