2015 International Emission Inventory Conference
"Air Quality Challenges: Tackling the Changing Face of Emissions"

The U.S. EPA’s 2015 International Emission Inventory Conference will be held at the Doubletree Hotel in San Diego, CA, April 12-16, 2015.

This year’s conference will focus on how emission inventories meet the challenges posed by emerging air quality issues, with a focus on the Western U.S. This theme highlights such issues as:

Our conference will provide a useful forum for the exchange of ideas and information on the development and uses of emissions data. Participating organizations are expected to include state, local, tribal, regional, international agencies, industry and academia.

Invitation to Submit Abstracts for Papers and Presentation
You are invited to submit a short abstract on a relevant topic that you would like to present by podium (orally) or by poster (visual display), or both. Authors will be notified upon selection of abstracts as to the selected formats. A paper submission will be required for podium presentations. Podium presentations are a maximum of 25 minutes in length, including a minimum of 5 minutes for questions and answers at the end of presentation.

A paper submission or an extended abstract will be required for posters. Posters may be submitted alone, or to compliment a podium presentation. Abstracts and papers will be included in the conference program and proceedings.

The following list provides example topics of interest to the audience for this conference. All topics will be considered even if a topic is not included in these examples.

An abstract topic may fall into or be related to one or more of the subject sessions areas below. When submitting an abstract, you will be prompted to indicate which of the session areas best suit your topic. If your abstract matches more than one session area, please list your choices of other sessions in your preferred order. While we will do our best to place your paper into your most preferred choice for session, session limitations may necessitate the need to find the next best session for your paper.

Session Areas

Invitation to Submit Ideas for Special-Topic Sessions
In addition to the topics and potential sessions listed above, if you have ideas about session topics that could benefit the emissions inventory community, please let us know. For example, the focus of this conference is on Western EI issues, and a “roundtable” discussion on how to improve some of the sectors most important to the Western States could be planned as part of a session listed above. If you make a suggestion, please be very specific about the topic and the interested audience (broad EI community vs narrower audience) and suggest too how you think it could be delivered within the technical program. Such special topics might be woven into the technical program as a new session area, panel discussion forums, lunchtime informational sessions/seminars, as an add-on to the plenary session, or as an Internet-Web session. Please email your specific ideas by November 28, 2014 to Tesh Rao, at EIC2015@epa.gov.

Submission Procedures
Abstracts will be used in the preliminary program. Authors will be notified upon selection of abstracts. Podium presentations will require a paper submission. Poster presentations will require an extended abstract or a paper submission. The due dates for papers and presentations will be announced in the program timeline in the next few weeks.

Click here to submit an abstract not to exceed 250 words via pdf document and email to EIC2015@epa.gov. This procedure will be the primary mechanism for submitting abstracts, papers, and presentation materials. You will be asked to provide your contact information for conference planning correspondence. Correspondence will include emails confirming abstract receipt, session assignment, reviews of submissions, and reminders of due dates.
