Availability of the
        Vatavuk Air Pollution Control Cost Indexes (VAPCCI) and the
     COST-AIR Air Pollution Control Cost Spreadsheets, Second Edition
                         (COST-AIR Spreadsheets)

   Due to changes in the data collected by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 
the Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards no longer supports the 
VAPCCI. This decision affects our support for the COST-AIR Spreadsheets, 
as well.  As a result, the EPA will no longer update these files. 

   In the case of the COST-AIR Spreadsheets, OAQPS invites you to 
download and use the computer program called the Air Compliance Advisor 
(ACA).  (Note: The ACA is available immediately below this listing on the 
CICA Products Web page.) The ACA fully incorporates the functions 
performed by the COST-AIR Spreadsheets, and is maintained by EPA to 
ensure the latest prices and equations are being used. 

   With respect to the VAPCCI, other good indexes are readily available 
from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and from a variety of private sources. 
We invite you to investigate these alternative measures, all of which produce 
reliable results.
