History of STORET
STORET, which stands for (STOrage and RETrieval), has been in existence since the early 1960's. The STORET system has seen vast changes since its original inception, however its purpose has always been consistent: to provide for the electronic storage and sharing of water quality monitoring data.
Today, STORET can be a confusing term. The large amount of change that STORET has gone through over the years has introduced new tools and ways of interacting with STORET, yet the term "STORET" is still used to describe many components. This brief history is meant to provide the story of how the system has changed over the years.
