North American Natural Resources, Inc. (NANR), founded in September 1995 by Robert C. Evans as a family-owned business, started with the Peoples Landfill Generating Facility in Birch Run, MI and has grown to three plants and a gas compression station. Peoples is a 4-unit generating facility that receives LFG from WM's Peoples LF and Republic's Tayban LF. Over the years, NANR has worked closely with WM on wellfield construction and balancing and gas expansion issues at their LF. NANR currently has a long-term contract with Consumers Energy for the power supplied from this plant. The Venice Park Generating Facility went online in February 2001. This is a 3-unit plant, with two units owned by WM and one owned by NANR. NANR has entered into an operation and maintenance agreement with WM through which NANR oversees the daily operations for all units. Due to an increase of LFG at the LF, another generating unit will go online in February 2006. NANR has a contract with Consumers Energy for the power supplied from their two units. In September 2001, NANR put online a 2-unit plant at the WM-owned White Lake LF in Whitehall, MI. These two units are modular, where the engines are encased in their own housing, equipped with radiators, switchgear, and all necessary metering. NANR has a contract with Consumers Energy for their renewable energy program for power from this plant. In 2004, NANR completed construction on its Autumn Hills Gas Compression Station in Zeeland, MI. Under agreement with WM's Autumn Hills LF, NANR processes the LFG and supplies it to an end user via a 6.5-mile pipeline for fueling of boilers as well as for generation. NANR has a full-time plant supervisor as well as plant operators at each site.
