Headquartered in La Crosse, WI, Dairyland Power Cooperative provides wholesale electricity to 25 member distribution cooperatives and 18 municipal utilities. Dairyland's service area encompasses 62 counties in five states (WI, MN, IA, IL, MI). Dairyland has provided low-cost, reliable electrical energy and related services in the upper Midwest for more than 70 years. Dairyland brought its first LFG energy project online in March 2004. The project, Seven Mile Creek, near Eau Claire, WI, produces 4 MW of renewable energy. Dairyland contracted with Waste Management for the Central Disposal Landfill near Lake Mills, IA and for the Timberline Trail Landfill near Bruce, WI for an additional 10.4 MW of capacity. In addition, Dairyland is purchasing 17.4 MW of wind turbine output from the McNeilus Windfarm near Adams, MN; 20 MW of wind turbine output from the Winnebago Windfarm near Thompson, IA; and 40 MW output from the Stoneman Biomass Plant in Cassville, WI. Dairyland also has anaerobic digesters, photovoltaic, hydroelectric, and residential distributed generation projects on its system.
