We'll now look at two approaches to plume diving.


First, a back of the envelope calculation based on experience at other sites in the area:


Back of the envelope icon Recharge of this magnitude combined with a high flow velocity can result in vertical plume migration an order of magnitude greater then the water table gradient. In our example this would be 10 times 0.00194 ft/ft or 0.0194 ft/ft. This value multiplied by a distance of 450 feet gives a depth of 8.73 feet.
