PM-2.5 NAAQS Notes
Return to Report
PM-2.5 design value data can be found on the Air Quality Design Value site.
Missing design values can mean there was insufficient monitored data.
-
2012 PM-2.5 area designations were effective on April 15, 2015. (80 FR 2206)
-
2006 PM-2.5 area designations were effective on December 14, 2009. (74 FR 58688)
-
All of the areas designated nonattainment for the 2006 PM-2.5 standard violated the 24-Hour standard.
-
Three 2006 PM-2.5 areas at designation had incomplete data with respect to the 24-Hour PM-2.5 NAAQS. In each of these three areas, one or more sites for which compliance cannot be determined for 2006-2008 clearly violated the NAAQS in a previous period (e.g., for 2005-2007). For these three areas the 2005-2007 design values are: Canton-Massillon, OH (36 µg/m3)), Johnstown, PA (39 µg/m3)), and Knoxville-Sevierville-La Fos llette, TN (37 µg/m3).
-
PM-2.5 (1997) area designations were effective on April 5, 2005. (70 FR 944)
-
All of the areas designated nonattainment for the PM-2.5 (1997) standards violated the annual standard. Two PM-2.5 (1997) areas also violated the 24-Hour standard of 65 µg/m3) (Los Angeles: 72 µg/m3), and San Joaquin Valley: 76 µg/m3).)
-
The Primary Annual PM-2.5 (1997) NAAQS (level of 15 µg/m3) was revoked in attainment and maintenance areas for that NAAQS. For additional information see the PM-2.5 NAAQS SIP Requirements Final Rule, effective October 24, 2016. (81 FR 58009)
