Waste Site Cleanup & Reuse in New England
King Philip Mills
The approximately 5-acre, mill-complex, consists of a series of interconnected mill factory buildings. In March 2003, EPA was informed of a release at the site, thereafter EPA inspected the site with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and local fire officials. EPA conducted sampling on March 13, 2013. Following a fire in Jan. 2012, the Fall River Fire Department conducted an inspection of the mill and identified the presence of 55-gallon drums and other containers of what they thought could be potentially hazardous materials. The City of Fall River thereafter contacted MassDEP and EPA, in late 2013, to ask for assistance in evaluating site conditions.
