State Implementation Plan (SIP) Summaries

State Implementation Plan (SIP) Summaries
EPA has prepared summaries of State Implementation Plan (SIP) approvals which EPA has made since the Clean Air Act amendments of 1990. The Plan summaries include the dates and Federal Register citations for EPA actions, identification of the affected areas, summary of the state submittal, whether the SIP contained any new or revised control measures or regulations, and whether the SIP contained any enforceable commitments.

From time to time a state may include as part of its SIP a commitment to perform a future action, such as develop a new control measure or revise an emission inventory. Provided that this commitment has been formally adopted as part of the SIP and approved by EPA, it then becomes federally enforceable. The state will then be held to this commitment and associated schedules.
