Partner Profile
The University of Missouri (MU) is dedicated to environmentally sustainable policies and practices which promote responsible stewardship of existing resources and the environment. Three current areas of sustainable energy focus include: biomass, solar, and wind. Including these renewable energy technologies in the campus energy portfolio helps achieve campus sustainability goals, provides Mizzou with clean reliable energy, and gives educational opportunity to MU's campus community. MU's on site renewables include: a 100% biomass boiler capable of providing electricity and thermal energy to campus, a demonstration wind turbine, solar PV, a solar thermal system which preheats water for MU's Combined Heat and Power Facility. Wind generated electricity is also purchased. These green initiatives will also help to further the academic and research missions of the University.
