Partner Profile
The Oregon Convention Center (OCC) is striving to be the most sustainable events facility in the world—and the first choice as a venue for green meetings. Together, our administration, staff and partners have worked to earn the highest level of certification, LEED Platinum® from the U.S. Green Building Council's® Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design™ program in 2014. Over the last decade the OCC has focused its efforts on completing over 30 energy efficiency projects, incorporating an extensive waste recycling, composting and food donation program and managing stormwater through our innovative Rain Garden. In 2014, OCC earned APEX/ASTM certification, the first standards created uniquely for green meetings and events. This program, verified by the Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC), gives us a roadmap for planning sustainable events, helping vendors and guests practice green habits and working with our community to support the environment. To maintain our certifications, we constantly track our results and continue to raise the bar in our industry. In 2015 the OCC began installation of a 2MW rooftop solar array that will produce 25%-30% of its annual power consumption. The solar array is scheduled to be online and producing power in the first quarter of 2016.
