Established in 1998, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center is one of the largest independent plant research institutes in the world. Center scientists apply the most modern scientific and business thinking to meet the challenges we face now and in the future for providing food, plant, fiber and fuel products to the people of the world in ways that can be sustained for generations to come.
In 2009 the Danforth Center began purchasing renewable energy certificates (REC’s). In 2012, to further its commitment to renewable energy, the Center increased its green power purchase.
"Research conducted at the Danforth Center is aimed at preserving and renewing our environment for future generations and our use of green power is something we can do today," Sam Fiorello, Chief Operating Officer.
