The City of Lake Oswego recently purchased clean wind power for 100% of its eligible electricity accounts. This purchase, combined with investments in energy-efficient technology and on-site solar power generation for its water treatment plant are helping to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of the City. An LED streetlight replacement program continues to save the City hundreds of thousands of dollars in electricity and maintenance costs and provided the impetus to continue with LED replacements in other city buildings. The City of Lake Oswego Sustainability Action Plan for City Operations provides targets for greenhouse gas emission reduction goals. Along with purchasing Clean Wind power, the City's new water treatment plant features a 30kW solar array, an eco-roof to reduce stormwater runoff, and energy efficient pumps. The City also recently update its High Performance Buildings guidelines to ensure that several new planned buildings are constructed to the highest standard.
