Community Profile
The Town of Hanover continues to actively pursuing methods to reduce the community’s carbon foot print. Hanover has invested in building energy efficiency, increased recycling, livable streets, street light upgrades, fleet energy reduction as well as a major overhaul to its Water Reclamation Facility which included the capture and use of methane. Hanover has a goal through the Natural Step process to be carbon neutral by 2030. Hanover completed a successful Solarize program which will increase the community’s renewable power generation with the addition of 63 new residential solar arrays. Hanover has negotiated with ENH Power to offer a 100% green-e certified residential power rate to interested residents and employees. Hanover is also pursuing large community solar arrays to offset municipal power consumption as well as interested residences, businesses and institutions.
