Incentive Size and Funding SourceThe Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 authorizes the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to issue more than $10 billion in loan guarantees for energy efficiency, renewable energy and advanced transmission and distribution projects. The focus of this program encompasses energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gases. CHP is eligible for particular solicitations under this funding opportunity.
Eligible RecipientProject developers with projects that "avoid, reduce or sequester air pollutants or anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases and employ new or significantly improved technologies as compared to commercial technologies in service in the United States at the time the guarantee is issued."

Other Incentive DetailsThe program has historically been designed to support larger scale renewable energy and biofuel projects.
